Aquatic therapy is skilled physical therapy in water. By performing therapeutic exercises in a warm water pool, patients find it easier to move and often experience less pain.

Following an evaluation, one of our licensed therapists will design a program of movement and exercise to meet your individual needs. Both individual and group sessions are available, and all programs are supervised by a licensed therapist. Initial and weekly progress reports are sent to your referring physician.

This is not simply a water exercise class where all participants go through the same movements. Rather, aquatic therapy is part of an individual treatment plan prescribed by your doctor. Sessions are performed at a therapeutic pool with a water temperature of 88–94°F. A doctor's referral is required. Talk to your doctor if you have questions about whether pool therapy is appropriate for you. IPMR pool therapy is offered in conjunction with the YWCA in Pekin and Peoria.
