IPMR helps children with physical disabilities by providing physical and occupational therapy within schools, allowing those young people from ages 3 to 22 to stay in their learning environments.
IPMR contracts with areawide school districts to provide therapy services from preschool—grade 12. Through the Mid-Central Association, IPMR physical and occupational therapists work with children from nine central Illinois counties who come to Thomas Jefferson Primary School, Lindbergh and Sterling Middle Schools and Peoria Central and Richwoods High Schools. Services are also contracted to the Creve Coeur and Marquette Heights school districts in Tazewell County, Illinois. These low-incidence programs offer therapy for children with physical disabilities, visual, hearing language and other health impairments.
IPMR staff participate in early childhood screenings conducted at Child Find, to identify children who may have special needs due to physical impairments. IPMR also provides physical therapy staff for Easter Seals, serving children throughout Peoria and surrounding communities.
