THE ROLE OF PHYSIOLOGICAL TESTING TO DETERMINE CARDIOVASCULAR FITNESS

For athletes, at whatever level, to make the most out of their training, they should consider physiological testing.   Physiological testing determines maximum oxygen consumption (V02 Max) and anaerobic threshold (AT) which can ensure training is at the correct intensity and it will help achieve better results in the same or less amount of time.

Contrary to popular belief, physiological testing is not only for pro athletes; in fact, testing may be even more valuable to amateurs hoping to maximize their performance on a restricted time schedule. Furthermore, regular physiological testing throughout the season can be beneficial to tracking and quantifying  progress.

IPMR, along with Running Central has a testing center at Running Central with the expertise and time to educate on the meaning of the results and the implication of those results on attaining training goals.  Physiological testing only works when the athlete comes away with a clear understanding of how and why there is a need to alter training to improve performance.  You will learn to train smarter, not harder!

And, for those looking to “shape-up”, shed some unwanted pounds and become more fit, physiological testing can be used to determine  daily caloric needs and the body’s response to exercise to determine the correct intensity of an individual’s workouts.  An individually designed, customized program can be designed by an exercise physiologist that will really work.  This personal program will provide all the tools and information to help achieve weight loss and fitness goals.  With proper nutrition and exercising at the level that’s right for each individual, maximum results will happen  in the minimum time, every time!

This testing is now available at Running Central in conjunction with IPMR in Peoria.

For more information and pricing contact Blair Gorsuch, MS, IPMR Director of Wellness/Exercise Physiologist at 309-621-4106, or Running Central at 309-676-6378.
